Living Options Explained

To help families understand choices, we provide guidance on all levels of care. Assisted living communities are classified as Retirement Communities for the Elderly (RCFE’s) and regulated by the Department of Health Services in California. Most communities include daily meal service, weekly housekeeping and laundry services. All of these communities are non-medical facilities and are only able to follow physicians prescribed orders for each individual to assist with activities of daily living.

Independent Living

Communities for seniors age 59+
Options may include standalone homes, condos and apartments that include maintenance oversight
Community events, outings, continuing education classes, special interest groups, fitness classes, transportation, daily meals

Assisted Living

Residential living with support for activities of daily living (medication management, bathing dressing, grooming and transportation)

Jane was a fantastic trainer for both exercise and breathing techniques. She offered a lot of resources both graphic and material I could listen to, to practice my breathing. The nice thing is that there has been a lot of carryover. After eight weeks of training, two months later I am still using the exercises and the breathing techniques. I find I have ways to make progress with the techniques which Jane introduced. Reaching my goals is a continuous process, but I now have the tools to attain them.

Next Step Senior Care is wonderful! They are the "perfect" resource for finding top rated facilities for your elderly loved one. We were not happy with the original senior home we found on our own, and it also turns out that it was documented as a bad facility with serious complaints and infractions filed with the state. Next Step Senior Care helped me relocate my Mom out of that bad senior home, and into a "top rated" senior care home. Next Step Senior Care has been a wealth of knowledge and an absolute God sent! We are extremely happy with our current senior care home they found for us, and also helped us again with recommending an excellent hospice company for my mother's unique health care needs.
